Isaiah 7:14

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;

And the government will rest on His shoulders;

And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 11:1

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse,

And a branch from his roots will bear fruit.

2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him,

The spirit of wisdom and understanding,

The spirit of counsel and strength,

The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

Isaiah 53:5

But He was pierced through for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him,

And by His scourging we are healed.

6 All of us like sheep have gone astray,

Each of us has turned to his own way;

But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all

To fall on Him.

Reading through Isaiah, this time, I was struck by the prophecies about Jesus and wanted to focus on them for a Christmas devotional.

When I looked up a list of all the prophecies, I was overwhelmed!  There are far more than I was able to discern on my own!  Those above have come to pass, but there are many about the second coming that have yet to come to fruition.    Messianic Prophecies in Isaiah

Let’s be thankful at this time of year for the ones that have affected our lives, for the salvation brought to us through the coming of the Lord Jesus, and through His death on the cross for our transgressions.

Because of these things, we can look forward to His return, and to our time in eternity with Him!
