The Leader's Journey

CBMC Indiana is committed to developing NextGen marketplace leaders focused on spiritual, personal, and professional.   Our Operation Timothy mentoring program and peer advisory groups are based on the following 5 simple stages of a leader's journey:

1) Establish our God Provided Significance (GPS)
We must first establish our identity from a Biblical perspective.

Why, What, Who?

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”  Exodus 3:14

The typical response to the latest mass shooting is, “Why?”  That’s certainly a legitimate question, because someone has gone off the path and committed an unspeakable crime which makes no sense to anyone else.  Whether we ever find out what the perpetrator was thinking, or not, there was a definite reason why they did what they did.

The Preeminence of Christ

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”   John 15:5

The primary Core Value of CBMC is the Preeminence of Christ - Intimacy with Christ is paramount, and all we do must emanate from our life in Him and His life in us.

Keys to an Abundant Life

John 10:10 - … I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  NKJV

Leadership is about Vision and Influence

            The Vision is Abundant Life

It’s an abundant relationship with God on earth

It’s an eternal relationship with God in heaven - John 17:3

The Influence is to Make Disciples – The Great Commission

                        Love God

                        Love People

                        Make Disciples

Delight Yourself in the Lord

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the LORD;  And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Job 22:23-25 - “If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored;  If you remove unrighteousness far from your tent, And place your gold in the dust, And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks, Then the Almighty will be your gold And choice silver to you.”

Is it all right to pray for a Cadillac?

Water of Life

John 7:37-39 - Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”  But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

But God…

Jer 29:11 - ‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’

We like Jeremiah 29:11 about the plans God has for us, but how often do we question when things aren’t working according to our plan?

These kinds of questions come up frequently in the Bible, and the answer is often, “But God.”  I found numerous verses, and I chose a few that appealed to me.

Patient Perspectives

I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom:  preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.  2Timothy 4:1-4
