Leaning Into the Wind: The Power of Persistent Pursuit

Leaning Into the Wind: The Power of Persistent Pursuit

The Reality of the Flak

In aviation, pilots know they are approaching their target when they begin “picking up flak”—the defensive fire from the ground. In our spiritual lives and relationships, we often experience the same phenomenon. Just as we are about to make a meaningful connection or reach a goal, obstacles arise. These are not signs to quit; they are signs that we are close to something significant.

The Mindset of Right Thinking

Adversity is a constant in life, but our response to it is a choice. “Right Thinking” involves leaning forward into the wind rather than retreating. Drawing strength from Philippians 4:13, we recognize that we can do all things through the One who strengthens us, specifically when the winds of adversity are at their strongest.

The Goal of Constant Pursuit

Faithfulness is not a single act but a continued direction. Like Abraham, who encountered numerous obstacles over 175 years but kept moving forward, we are called to a “continual pursuit” of our goals. This is especially true in our relationships. We must pursue others through the obstacles that separate us so they know they are valued members of God’s team.

Moving Forward

Success is often preceded by a long string of failures. The key is to trust in the Lord with all your heart, rather than leaning on your own understanding. When we acknowledge Him in our pursuit, He makes the path straight—even when the wind is blowing directly in our faces.
