The Great Commission

 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20

Last week’s article on The Great Commission generated some responses that I thought were worth sharing.  One, an insurance agent, asked , Is The Great Commission 15% or 20%?

Here’s a real one:

Good job, Eldon! You have just effectively unpacked the passage as few pastors have with your explanation of the infinitive “going.” Fantastic!

Another man said, “Just what I needed. “

Eldon, You got it right. Thanks for sharing it. Simple and compelling.

Thanks, Eldon.  Another question that church goers struggle with is, "What is the gospel?"  It is actually a great lead-in to sharing the gospel with someone...

I think that Mark 16:15 is the most specific of the Great Commission verses.  It is a direct command from Jesus himself to each one of us to preach that Jesus died for sinners.  Making disciples can mean a lot of different things to people, but when we are told specifically to go out of the church into the world to preach the gospel without exception, it does not leave much wiggle room for us.  When Jesus commands us to do something and we don't do it, we are sinning.  Yikes!

Mark 16:15 (NIV-1984) - He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

James 4:17 (NIV-1984) - Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.

Keep serving your King!

Upshot:  "So, where'd ya go?  And how's your going, going?"  A good time to mention every chance you get... BlessEveryHome.com -- it helps us answer that question.  And always be multiplying the 'disiplers' (blue-dots) in Indiana.

This website, which guides people in discipleship while “going” in their neighborhoods, opens with,

   For the Lord has commanded us, "I have placed you as a Light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth." - Acts 13:47

1Pe 2:24 - …and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness;
