God gives us His Word so we can grow in our understanding of, and relationship with, Him. Investing time alone in God’s Word gives Him the opportunity to lead and direct our steps. It allows His Spirit to speak to us directly, and gives us pause to stop for a moment,  block out the world, and listen to Him.

What is the Daily Bible Challenge? The Daily Bible Challenge is an email that Gary Kirschman  garyk@cbmc.com sends out each week, giving a simple reading plan of about 12 minutes of reading for each day of that week. By following this plan, you will read through part of the Old Testament and the entire New Testament in chronological order by the end of 2023.

What is the purpose of the Daily Bible Challenge? The purpose is to help people get into the habit of reading God’s Word every day.

What if I miss a day or more of reading? No problem. When you’re able to read again, just pick up on the reading for that day. Don’t try to go back and read the days you missed. That can be frustrating and cause you to give up.

Besides reading the Bible, what else do I need to do for the Daily Bible Challenge? For accountability there are two additional things you will need to do:

  1. At the end of each week hit the Reply button to respond to Gary’s email and let him know the number of days you were able to read for that week (no judgment or shame, just good ol’ fashioned accountability).
  2. Let Gary know one thing that caught your attention as you read during the week; it can be an insight, a question, a promise, a curiosity, etc.

What if I change my mind and decide I don’t want to do this anymore? No problem. Just let Gary know and he will take you off the reading plan.

Any tips? Yes. The best way to succeed is to set aside the same 10 – 15 minutes each day in your schedule. Find a time each day that works best for you, e.g., first thing in the morning, last thing at night, when the kids are napping or at school, during your lunch break, during your coffee break, arrive 15 minutes early at work, etc.

How do I start? Let Gary garyk@cbmc.com  know of your interest, and he’ll sign you up. Or, respond to this email, and I will forward it to Gary.  You’ll receive your first week’s reading, immediately,  so you can begin reading on January 1.

Who can sign up? ANYONE and EVERYONE!!!

If you don’t have a plan, we hope you will consider this opportunity and challenge some friends to join you. In the meantime, have a Happy New Year!
