The Leader's Journey
CBMC Indiana is committed to developing NextGen marketplace leaders focused on spiritual, personal, and professional. Our Operation Timothy mentoring program and peer advisory groups are based on the following 5 simple stages of a leader's journey:
1) Establish our God Provided Significance (GPS)
We must first establish our identity from a Biblical perspective. The Bible will help us to know our creator, how we are designed, and our value to God (see Psalm 139). Jesus was sent to seek and save the lost and provide a way back to God. Believing in and following Jesus as an example to establish our core values is the first step in setting up our GPS.
2) Find our calling / our motivation
Since we were created for a purpose, finding our mission in life will create the motivation and passion needed to begin our leadership journey. (see Ephesians 2:10)
3) Pick a destination
Set several major points along the course but allow God to direct our steps (see Proverbs 16:9 & 21:5) Without a clear vision, it is difficult to adjust the course and succeed. (see Proverbs 29:18)
4) Use a good map
A good map shows us the roads and highways created to help us travel. Similarly, we need our own map of how to navigate our daily lives. Creating systems and processes helps maximize each day and opportunity. They provide guardrails alongside our path and allow others to benefit from our efforts. (see Hebrews 12:11)
5) Check your progress
Community and accountability will help keep us on the path. Make progress and not perfection, the focus as we share with others in a clear and consistent manner. (see Proverbs 27:17 and Hebrews 10:24-25)
Incorporating these principles in our own lives, as CBMC leaders, will help us develop personally and position us to share them with our Timothys and the next generation of men who become part of our Connect3 Teams, our Young Professional Teams, and our Trusted Advisor Forums.
